Optimal Reservation Policy for Weaker Sections in India |
|
It is a precarious moment for all Indians to watch nonchalantly the unambiguous pandering of the elitist leaders of weaker sections and minority religions through jungle quotas, increased reservations, and virtual nationalization of private educational entreprises. Such policies will not only stifle individual entrepreneurship but also sap national competitiveness, security and integrity, hurting the weaker sections the most as we have seen happen due to such policies since independence. The current ambulance chasing in Kalinganagar will neither contain raping of public/private wealth nor enhance India's competitiveness which is necessary to stop eroding mass prosperity. The economic growth figures rained over masses are not true measures of prosperity. Rational leaders cutting across party lines, caste, creed and religion must emerge to spread well-articulated policies that will enhance prosperity of masses in long-run. One such policy is optimal reservation policy for all weaker sections that serves long-term interests of these sections as well as security, integrity and prosperity of India: allow reservation quotas at whatever percentage to be granted only to those families in these sections who do not currently hold government jobs or earn less than national median income. This optimal reservation policy is simple to understand, easy to implement and robust to win support of 99% of the weaker sections. The elite leaders of weaker sections have not meliorated their fellow beings, but have usurped everything under the garb of reservation. The weaker-section elite leaders are super “Brahmins” who even prefer relationships only with upper castes. They are least interested in integrating within weaker sections in lower economic strata. Can they oppose this optimal reservation policy? If they do, they will face the ire of masses of weaker sections. The weaker-section elite leaders will grudgingly support the rational leaders sponsoring the optimal reservation policy. Then the rational leaders will win for championing the cause of masses. If the weaker-section elite leaders oppose the optimal reservation policy, then also the rational leaders will win massive support of masses in weaker sections. Either way, the rational leaders will win by proposing this optimal policy and spreading it everywhere in the nation. The self-aggrandizing and entrenchment-induced professional political leaders of India will not easily tolerate the rational leaders, and the mafia-criminals associated with entrenched political leaders will perhaps eliminate the rational leaders. This is a serious dilemma facing India today. The silver lining in the darker horizon is that some of the entrenched professional leaders will turn rational to bequeath a stable and prosperous India to their posterity.
